It was an absolute pleasure to work with Mirriam, I actually scouted her at her work place in a shopping centre as she served me and was so friendly and smiled the most beautiful smile at me.
A photo from a recent shoot with my friend Mansi, it was so great to be able to work with her again it had been close to 3 years since we had shot together as I had moved away and she now lives overseas in America but happened to be back on holiday just as I moved back to South Australia ao we co-ordinated a shoot. This photo was shot with all natural lighting which isn’t something I do a lot of, but I liked the lighting in the room.

Carrie came over the other day to model and I decided we would go for a more fun style costume makeup instead of regular makeup. I wanted to make her look like an ancient Egyptian but still incorporate my style. I was quiet lost what to do for a background so I just shot against the wall in my stairway bouncing the light off the roller door. This was so much fun to put together and I always love shooting with Carrie, she’s a great friend.

This look is a little bit Avant Garde as the makeup look incorporates red daisies from my front garden and some of the leaves from the red daisy bush. I used a piece of velvet fabric hung on my washing line for the backdrop and we shot in my back garden. Mirriam has a stunning face which is why I chose to do a fairly tightly cropped headshot. I chose to use red daisies because I feel like yellow has been overdone by other people and yellow are the only other ones in my front garden that are in bloom at the moment. Mirriam is a Ugandan Australian, the colours in this photo are symbolic of her heritage as the Ugandan flag is Red yellow and black (this was not my original intention but thought it’s a pretty cool fact to include.)
This is a self portrait, I had my head shaved by my amazing friend Mia, so I decided it was time for a portfolio update. I couldn’t decide what to wear so I wrapped myself up in a bolt of tulle fabric it looked very effective in photos. I used gold leafing on my head and neck and put gold glitter on my lips and eyelids.
A glittery purple smokey eye look I created on Tash for a photo shoot day.

I love to find my inspiration in garments because I love fashion, I had organised a shoot with Jess and a few days before the shoot I was trying to decide what to do for the shoot so I looked through my wardrobe and found this dress, I bought it last summer in Adelaide as I thought the dress was interesting. Once I picked the dress I designed the makeup and decided I would shoot downstairs where there is a wall with a door, but I thought it needed something more so I went to Kmart and bought coloured paper/ cardboard. I thought it would only take me a couple of hours to put the wall together but I was mistaken it took 9 hours with help from my partner Ryan and Jess, the problem was trying to fit the shapes together and keep a balanced look with the colours, we ran out of blue tack right at the end of putting the paper up. Although not my inspiration it reminds me of a kaleidoscope because of the colours and shapes.

This photo was from a rather spontaneous shoot, Bree happened to be over visiting my housemate when I saw her and asked her to come upstairs and be my model. I had some flowers given to from a previous workplace and created this look with one of the flowers.

I love shooting with Tash, I only get to work with her when I go to South Australia so once to twice a year but she is a great friend and its always fun working with her. For this shot I had to climb up a Ladder and shoot down into the mirror on the dining table. Using a mirror makes shooting in a confined space much easier as the house is very small and doesn’t have a good aesthetic, but I don’t have a studio in SA so I had to use what I had available. I’m super happy with how it turned out.

I did a spontaneous sleeping beauty style shoot, as my friend Bree was over and we weren’t really up to much, I put my blonde wig on her, she kind of looked like a barbie. The tiny pink flowers in her hair were real flowers I had picked a few days earlier and put in the fridge to keep fresh as I thought they were beautiful. When I was deciding what to do for the shoot I found the pink flowers in the fridge and remembered that I had some fake flower vines about the same colour. I knew I wanted to do the shoot with Bree lying down so it would look fairytale like, I shot this on a small space of vinyl downstairs that is a similar colour and pattern to stone when placed behind objects. I got Ryan to be my assistant by holding my video light in place for the shot, I have lost the adaptor that allows me to put it on a light stand. I am so pleased with how the photo came out as it was so spontaneous.

This was shot for my boss Wendy she is a milliner. The hat featured in this shoot is her first prize winning hat ‘Busy As’ which features a beehive like shape, homey comb shaped net, bees, blossoms and sculpted green millinery fabric. It was a very last minute shoot but she wanted it photographed before it got sold, so I took it home overnight between my two shifts in her shop and did a self portrait shoot with it. Wendy’s talent as a milliner always blows me away, she is amazing!

A photo of the very beautiful Mina who I photographed while she was over in Australia from Germany, such a lovely girl! it was about 40 degrees on this day so wearing fur was a big task.
I was given a bunch of flowers, so as usual when I get given flowers I wait till they are about to die then use them in a makeup look to capture them forever beautiful. I actually couldt find my glue so I used cheap lash gleu to stick them to Tash’s face I was surprised they stayed so well. The photo is just lit by a speedlight as its the only lighting I own.

A beauty portrait of my amazing friend Lisa, I really miss her, we now live 2100km away from each other, she is one of the kindest people I have ever met, such a wonderful friend and great model. This photo shoot we did like 8 looks, had fish and chips for lunch and then went and watched the sunset at the lake after we finished shooting which was a lot of fun! for this look I chose to go with a classic red lip and wimnged liner, teamed with a side chignon and finished with a hairpiece supplied by Wendy Louise Designs.

my little sister Claudia modelling for me. This was shot with completely natural light, I don’t normally use completely natural light unless its the afternoon sun that provides hard light as I feel the absence of shadows looks unusual, I am happy with how this turned out though.

Another photo of the very beautiful Mina while she was in Australia. This was in my studio in the warehouse I lived in in Brisbane. It was so hot on the day this was shot like 40 degrees and there were no windows that opened downstairs in the warehouse, I think we had a fan but it didn’t do a heap to keep us cool. It was a really fun day though.
A photo of Mansi in the studio modelling one of my garments, she has such a beautiful smile. Mansi went to school with me, in the year below and she always use to smile at me and I always thought she had a beautiful smile and wanted to ask her to model for me. Shes such a lovely person and always photographs so beautifully.

I shot this in my friend Jackie’s apartment, I used only natural light there is a window either side behind Tash you can seethe curtains in the background which I thought looked really cool. I made the headpiece for it based around the look of the dress. I always really enjoy working with Tash, each time we get a really different result.

I love shooting people, unfortunately I don't know that many models here in Brisbane and a lot of the time the ones I do know are very busy. So for this shoot, I did my makeup and photographed myself. I always find self portraits much more challenging as I am not as good at doing my own makeup as I am at doing makeup on other people. Another challenge with self portraits is I cant direct myself with poses and where to look and it takes me ages to get the camera in the right spot cause I cant stand there and frame it around myself as its impossible to be in two places at once. Despite all this I do enjoy doing self portraits as its nice to feel like a model sometimes.
